Local Planning & Zoning Assistance
Zoning of Property
The Michigan Planning Enabling Act, Act 33 of 2008, and the Michigan Zoning Enabling Act, Act 110 of 2006 provide the legislative framework by which the County would manage the planning and zoning functions of county government. Saginaw County does not administer local zoning or have a county-wide zoning ordinance. Instead, for this type of information contact the appropriate local municipality. Saginaw County provides a generalized zoning map solely as a visual aid. You can access Saginaw GIS by clicking the following link: http://www.sagagis.org/
In accordance with Michigan’s Zoning Enabling Act, PA 110 of 2006, the Saginaw County Administrator’s Office receives and reviews proposed zoning ordinance changes and master plans for all municipalities in Saginaw County.
Many communities provide their zoning ordinances online, either at their own website or via the Municode.com website, check their sites to find out how to access this information. Zoning ordinances and maps for smaller units of government may not be available online, you may have to visit or contact them directly.
